### How far are you from the Acropolis and Monastiraki?
We are at Navarchou Apostoli 11 in Psyrri, about 5 minutes on foot from Monastiraki and Thiseio metro stations and about 15 minutes from the Acropolis. We are an ideal stop for a meal before or after a walk in the historic center.

### How much does a meal at Alysso cost?
As a guide, starters cost from €1.40 to €14.50, salads €9.50–12, pasta and risotto €12–19, main courses €15–32 and desserts €3.50–8. You will always find the current prices on our menu.

### What are your signature dishes?
Our guests single out the moussaka baked in a clay pot, the slow-cooked lamb shank, the lamb chops, the octopus stifado, the grilled squid and the handmade galaktoboureko. To start, we suggest the three dips, the homemade stuffed vine leaves and the fried feta with sesame and honey.

### Do you serve fresh fish and seafood?
Yes. Among the main courses you will find grilled sea bream (500–600 g), fresh grilled squid, a grilled shrimp skewer and grilled salmon. For sharing there are seafood meze: octopus stifado, mussels steamed with ouzo, garlic shrimp and marinated anchovies with Santorini fava.

There is no Greek table without a Greek salad, known in Greece as horiatiki, the "village salad". It is simple, refreshing and made with few ingredients, which have to be the very best.
The ingredients make the difference
A real Greek salad has no lettuce and no complicated dressing. It needs ripe tomatoes, crunchy cucumber, onion, pepper, olives, capers, a slab of feta on top, oregano and plenty of extra virgin olive oil. The juices left at the bottom of the plate are for dipping your bread.

Where moussaka comes from
Dishes of eggplant and minced meat have been cooked for centuries across the eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans, and the name "moussaka" has roots in Arabic. Moussaka as Greeks know it today, with a thick layer of béchamel on top, took shape in the early 20th century and is linked to the chef Nikolaos Tselementes, who shaped Greek home cooking like few others.
The secrets of a good moussaka
The eggplant: well roasted or fried, so that it melts in the mouth.
The meat sauce: slow-cooked with tomato and spices such as cinnamon and allspice, which give it its signature aroma.
